Learning Objectives
- Identify the top insurance risks - including professional liability (errors & omissions) general liability, and cyber threats - that commonly lead to claims against small architectural firms.
- Differentiate between "claims made" and "occurrence" policies to understand how to maintain continuous coverage, particularly when changing carriers or retiring.
- Formulate a risk management plan that includes best practices in documentation, communication, and project site safety to reduce the frequency of claims.
- Implement strategies to reduce insurance premiums by aligning coverage limits with actual project risk and implementing quality control procedures.
